What are Formosan Termites?

These termites are not native to the United States but have been spotted in various locations around Georgia since the 1990s. They often infest railroad crossties used in retaining walls or for landscaping; however, if you have crossties on your property, it’s not absolutely indicative that you have Formosan termites, as these termites can infest different types of wood as well.
